Before you go

This page will give you a broad description of what you should prepare or think about before you leave for your holiday. i.e. books to read, useful things to bring, what to wear, banks and money, passports, visas, health and fitness, vaccinations, luggage and lost luggage, insurance, joining instructions etc.. Each holiday will have slightly different requirements so please check the individual fact sheet for the specific information relating to that holiday.

Books

It may be worth your while reading up on your destination before you go. Travel books can give you a lot of the nitty gritty information that you may need including maps, best restaurants, tourist destinations, and some language hints if you need.

Budgeting for your holiday

Some of the cities we take you to are more expensive than others, especially if they reside on the coast, so you may notice the difference in prices. If you wish to keep you costs down, just chat to our tour hosts and they can direct you to the places which may be more economical.

In our experience people vary enormously in how much they choose to spend on a holiday. So here is an example from one of our Spain holidays to help you do your own calculations.

Lunches: 3 meals @ 15 euros = 45 Euros
Otional Extra social dinner @ 22.50 Euros
Tapas and drinks at night: 1 @ 10 Euros
3 taxis per day @ 10 euros ÷ 3 people (shared taxi) = 10 Euros per day on taxis
Entrance to monuments and museums = 20 Euros
Plus any optional extras.

Health and Fitness

There are no particular health requirements for a dance holiday. However you should be able to dance for at least two hours a day in order to be able to enjoy the dance classes.

Insurance, Visa and Passport Requirements

In brief, Insurance is a condition of booking. You must check with your local embassy regarding Visa and passport requirements. Booking terms and conditions

Joining Instructions

You receive these approximately five days prior to your departure. They will include your flight ticket or electronic ticket confirmation, detail the address and phone number of the hotel, include transfer details, and emergency contact numbers.

Essential equipment and clothing to bring

Each dance style is slightly different but in general we recommend that you bring shoes with a leather sole for the dance classes and the evenings. Your shoes should be comfortable and supportive. You may like to wear lightweight cotton socks to avoid sweaty and blistered feet!

It is probable that you may get through quite a few clothes in the classes and dancing at night (you can get quite hot!) so bring a variety of outfits. Wear comfortable loose clothing for the classes. The Salsa clubs for example are quite informal - it is common for both men and women to wear jeans. Most of them do not allow shorts or trainers. Please check the individual fact sheet for details of what to wear for the dance style you are interested in.

Some useful things to bring

  • Camera
  • Shoes suitable for spending a long time walking around the streets
  • Summer clothing for day and light jacket for evenings
  • Swimming costume, suntan lotion and beach gear

And loads more! Just check the fact sheet for your chosen holiday for the nitty gritty details.
